The future starts now

Every school pays attention to (the use of) computers and the internet, but often this attention is fragmented and ad hoc. ICT is more than just using an interactive whiteboard and digitally processing lessons. A continuous approach to digital literacy is necessary to gain and maintain an understanding of what students should know and what they should be able to do. Moreover, this should not only depend on the person standing in front of the class. Using a program can help schools work towards their goals and gain insight into where students stand. It can also support teachers in developing their own competencies. Digital literacy should become a shared responsibility.

'DIGIT works well and can be used at any time.' Teacher DIGIT

DIGIT is the solution for anyone who wants to improve their computer and digital skills, young and old. DIGIT is widely used across all levels of education and is a leading online program for digital literacy in primary education.

The digital learning environment offers students the opportunity to engage interactively with the theory and assignments. The theory is primarily presented in the form of videos, there are interactive activities, and the practical assignments are tailored to the students’ world of experience. For the teacher, there is an extensive dashboard to monitor and adjust the students’ progress.

Students learn word processing, creating presentations, searching for and processing reliable sources, using the internet and social media safely, programming, and much more. The program is continuously kept up-to-date, and can be fully customized to meet any need or educational approach. DIGIT can be offered independently in class, through projects, or integrated into other subjects. DIGIT is designed for different levels.

Within DIGIT, we distinguish four core domains: ICT basic skills, information skills, media literacy, and computational thinking.

INNOVATORS have developed an adaptive method for digital literacy: DIGIT. DIGIT provides a workbook for the youngest children (ages 4–8) and an online learning environment for students aged 8 and up to develop digital skills.
