The first digital history method

Time for History was the first digital method for teaching history in secondary education in the Netherlands. While many digital options have since become available, they often result in a “PDF-behind-glass” experience. Not with Time for History. We use technology to enhance both learning and teaching, without losing the personal touch. And our development is always ongoing!

Active Historical Thinking (AHD)

Active Historical Thinking helps students simultaneously expand their historical (factual) knowledge, apply historical (and general) skills, and understand the historical context. Our AHD assignments include didactic tips for teachers, ensuring that the instructional methods are even more effective.

Technologie, interactivity and serious gaming

In Tijd voor Geschiedenis (TvG), students learn to think critically and discover that history is closely connected to the world today. As a result, the focus shifts to the (re)construction of the past. This is given a special emphasis through the use of the technology behind TvG. Examples include various engaging and interactive assignments, as well as more complex games where students step into the shoes of historical figures and think like a king, emperor, or admiral. These games create a sense of reality and excitement, making key learning points more memorable.

Own teaching materials in TvG

Teachers also develop their own teaching materials. The quality of this has been proven over the years. The combination of a method, enriched with these personally developed materials, creates a powerful approach. It provides the opportunity to add a personal touch to the method. For this reason, TvG offers an accessible tool to digitalize their materials, giving them the same interactive features as the method itself. The best of both worlds.

Diagnostic Adaptieve Formative Tests

Vodix has developed DAF tests to meet the demand for more formative, personalized, and differentiated education. DAF stands for Diagnostic, Adaptive, and Formative. These tests provide an overview of whether or not specific learning objectives have been achieved, showing the current status for each individual student. Both the student and the teacher can see the status of cognitive levels, such as RTTI (Reasoning, Thinking, and Understanding) and knowledge areas. The DAF test links this feedback report to follow-up actions, such as review questions and a return to the lesson content. Achieved learning objectives are no longer revisited. For teachers, this provides a quicker and clearer overview of where the students are in their learning process and what their needs are, all with fewer summative assessments.
